Frequently Asked Questions

AJM Removals Bristol welcome and value feedback from our customers so that we may constantly improve the way we do things, so feel free to contact us to share your opinion about your experience with us. This information helps us to create a better, more efficient and more enjoyable service for all our customers. Please read through the FAQ carefully, to ensure safe delivery of your goods.

How early do I need to book removal services?

Ideally, as much notice as possible and when the moving date is confirmed, so we can book you in on your desired date. However, we can be flexible and can offer a next day or same day removal service dependent on availability.

How many vans will I need for the move?

Multiple Luton box vans or a 2400 cubic feet Lorry with a professional crew inside are available, depending on access to your property and job volume.

How many removal men can you provide?

At AJM Removals Ltd we can supply from one “man with a van”, where the experienced driver is giving full assistance with loading/unloading and safely packing the van with all professional moving equipment – up to 16 removal men on a job, depending on your moving needs.

What insurance cover do you have?

All vehicles we use for house removals are fully insured for hire and reward, and additionally for goods in transit starting from £25,000–£125,000 and £1,000,000 for public liability, for complete peace of mind. All insurances are always included in all our quotes as a standard.

What kind of packing services do you offer?

We offer full domestic packing services, using professional packing materials, ensuring the safe delivery of your goods. Packing is generally carried out the day before the removal. Moving boxes and packaging also can be supplied from us on request, or rented (range of boxes, including wardrobe boxes with a hanging rail), if you wish to pack yourself. All packaging materials (bubble wrap, wrapping paper, tape etc. and boxes) are delivered and collected free of charge within Bristol if you choose to move with us.

TV transportation?

Modern televisions (same as laptops, tablets, PC screens etc.) are very fragile and expensive items, therefore they must be in their original packaging or well-packed, if you do the packing job yourself, whilst being transported. Upon your request we can carry a TV (without wrapping) in the removal van and transport it as safely as we can, covering it with removal blankets and placing it in a TV bag, but in that case we won’t take any responsibility for it, so it would be safer to transport it yourself in a car if the original packaging is missing. In the meantime we provide protective TV bags for flat screen TVs (up to 58 inch). During the years we had 0% damage transporting unprotected TVs.

Should I empty my fridge freezer?

Yes, especially the top section.

Can you dismantle and re-assemble furniture such as bed or wardrobe?

Yes – if agreed we will dismantle your bed or any piece of furniture before we move it and re-assemble it at your new home. All dismantling and re-assembling must be arranged during quotation.

Does my furniture get placed where I desire?

Sure, we will place all the furniture in particular rooms following your direction or labels.

Will I need to clean out my chest of drawers?

It’s strongly advisable to ensure safe delivery, however we can safely carry loaded drawers, if drawers are built to be carried separately and sturdy enough to handle the weight. (Please make sure there are no loose or valuable items inside.)

Do I need to seal up and mark my boxes?

Yes, ideally, all boxes must be filled to their level, well packed, closed and sealed. Marking would help us a lot while unloading, without you being involved.

Do you provide just a van hire?

Sorry, we don’t offer a van hire service in Bristol yet.

Can you collect my rubbish/waste from the garden?

Sorry, we don’t do rubbish collections or tip runs of any kind, we run a clean-vehicles service for furniture removals only.

What boxes should I use for my move?

We always advise to use double/triple wall boxes.

Would you like a tea/coffee?

Yes, please!
